Iain Jefferson - Issue 6
Iain Jefferson - Issue 6

Hello and Welcome to Through The Wire With Kyle Wilson, the newspaper column and radio show that brings you under the radar bands, artists and DJ's to the greater public. This week we interview an up-and-coming DJ from Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Iain Jefferson.

Q1.What's your DJ name and where are you from?
My DJ name is Iain Jefferson. I am originally from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and now live in Ladykirk in the Scottish Borders.

Q2. When did you start out as a DJ?
I started mixing in 2001 when I bought a pair of newmark decks and mixer then gradually built up my set to a pair of Technics 1210 vinyl decks, a Pioneer djm 300 mixer and a pair of CDJ 800 CD decks.

Q3. When did you realise you wanted to go down the music route?
I realised I was going to go down the musical route when I started going to club nights like "Shindig" in Newcastle to see DJ's like Deep Dish and Darren Emerson. I heard what sounds could be achieved by blending amazing music together, I knew then that is what I wanted to do.

Q4. Who are your greatest Inspirations?
My greatest inspiration has to be John Digweed, as he is a true genius at mixing. I have seen him play a lot and he never fails to deliver the goods.

Q5. What club would you most like to play?
I would love to play at "Tribal Sessions" at "Sankeys" in Manchester, it won the best club in the DJmag club awards.

Q6. How would you describe the music you play?
I would describe the music I play as a mix of deep house, tribal, electronic, tech house, progressive and techno, all with lots of nice melodies.

Q7. Where can we hear your mixes?
You can hear some of my mixes on soundcloud.com/kaiser03 and I will have a weekly radio show on Generate Radio when it is back on air.

Q8. What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to get a residency at a club and play out live a lot more.

Thank you to Iain Jefferson for that interview. Check out his mixes via the soundcloud link and leave some feedback. Next week we head back to the capital where the music scene seems to be getting more vibrant by the week. Thanks for reading Through The Wire With Kyle Wilson.
