DO you have a Satellite Navigation System? This seems to be the ‘must have’ gadget nowadays.
These are great little devices to help lead you from A to B, and some even help you to avoid the pitfalls along the way, but they can also lead you right up the garden path if you place a total reliance on the device without applying a bit of common sense.
Devices such as this are, after all, simply logical idiots, incapable of thought. I’ve yet to find a SatNav system which offers significant benefits over good old fashioned maps, eyes, ears, some advance planning and up to date information.
There is an excellent route map system available which can show you everything you need to guide you through life, but you may need to use your eyes and ears and a little bit of thought to use it.
To avoid being sidetracked don’t take the words too literally. You can also take passages out of context, which can lead you off on an altogether different route, sometimes with no easy return.
Remember that sometimes there may be an alternative route and it is always better if you have a navigator to help.
So what’s this wonderful system called? It is of course the Bible and your navigator is the Lord Jesus. I can recommend both to guide you on your way safely and securely.
JOHN WILKINSON,
Langton and Lammermuir Kirk.
