ONE of the Borders' most popular theatre companies is bringing a double-bill of two thought-provoking shows to Coldingham Hall on Friday, March 5.
The performance, entitled 'Life and Death in Town and Country' couples Donald Campbell's 'Nancy Sleekit' with John Buchan's 'The Herd of Standlan'.
The former will be performed by Zoe Hunter, who put in a fantastic performance at The Maltings last
summer in Unpacked Theatre's 'No Obvious Trauma'.
She will step into the role of Nancy, a much put-upon and resourceful Edinburgh lady barber, whose husbands all meet with mysterious ends.
As she prepares for the funeral of her third husband, she regales the audience with tales of her disappointing marriages and her very particular way of coping with them.
The short play is full of comedy and bite, and gives a contemporary insight into life in Edinburgh's Old Town over a 100 years ago.
And another fine acting talent, Colin Moncrieff, takes the lead in 'The Herd of Standlan' which tells the tale of Gideon Scott, a young shepherd who witnesses an accident to a young laird.
Injuring himself in the rescue, he struggles to keep Arthur, the young laird, alive through the night and is visited by doubts and his dead granny and old adversary.
Can he hold on until help comes- and will it be worth it?
There's only one way to find out - buy your ticket, costing £7, and get
yourself along to Coldingham Hall on the night.
