DANCE fans are in for a real treat when Moscow Ballet Theatre, Osmoi Div, graces The Maltings' stage this weekend with their production of 'The Sprig of Rosemary'.

Ballerina Krystina Cameron Davydova, who performed sold out shows both at Paxton House last September, and in 'Swan Lake' at The Maltings in May, is the star and choreographer of this sumptuous full-length classical ballet set to the music of Fra
nz Schubert.
'The Sprig of Rosemary' tells the tale of Annaliese, a poor peasant girl who, by chance, arrives in an old forgotten castle inhabited only by ghosts and fairies.
There, she meets a handsome prince and crosses paths with an evil princess in this timeless tale of love overcoming all obstacles.
What makes this performance particularly special for Berwick is that six local dancers, one as young as 12, from the Jane Keenan School of Dancing are performing on pointe alongside their international counterparts.
Popular local male dancer Mark Phillips, whose day job is as a teacher at Tweedmouth Middle School, is also featured in the production, having last been seen in Swan Lake with Davydova.
Jane Keenan enthused: "Krystina's work with the ballet school here in Berwick is a wonderful opportunity for local students to be included in the performance with professional dancers from Russia. It's marvellous!"
When asked how it is logistically possible to bring together dancers from such geographically distant locations, Jane explained that Krystina taught the Berwick-based dancers their parts when she was last in town for 'Swan Lake' in May.
Following her departure, they have been practising under Jayne's expert guidance and on Krystina's return to Berwick three weeks ago, have been rigorously perfecting their parts for the performances.
With such enthusiasm from all involved, plus fairies, enchantment and glorious dancing, 'The Sprig of Rosemary' is guaranteed to deliver a captivating night of theatre at The Maltings for the entire family.
The show opens tomorrow, Friday, July 3, at 7.30pm and continues through to Saturday when there are performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets are £12 and £8 (under-18s and concessions). They can be booked via The Maltings box office on (01289) 330 999.
