CONVENOR of the event James Bolton said that this year's Chirnside Civic Week looks like being "one of the best ever," and things definitely got off to a fantastic start at the weekend.
Kicking proceedings off in style was an over-40s football match at Comrades Park. Local pride was at stake when Chirnside's old timers took on their rivals from nearby Duns. And after a tense match which ended 3-3, it was the away team who took home the spoils courtesy of a victory in a penalty shoot out.
