CLASSES were halted briefly at Coldstream Primary on Friday following a gas scare.
Commenting on the matter, a spokesperson for Scottish Borders Council said: "There was a smell of gas within the kitchen at Coldstream Primary School, in the area of the gas cookers. The smell was reported immediately by kitchen staff, who also called Transco. The school was evacuated as a precaution.
"Transco were on the scene very quickly and a tiny amount of gas was found to be leaking from a faulty burner on the cooker. The engineer advised that pupils were safe to return to their classrooms. A specialist engineer has now attended to service, repair and check all the gas units in the school kitchen."
