AFTER already having one trophy in his cabinet, Berwickshire bobby PC Alasdair Bell, was awarded another at a presentation in Hawick last week.
Twenty three-year-old Alasdair travelled up to Edinburgh with his family in December where he was presented with Lothian and Borders Police Force Probationer of the Year award and can now add the Divisional Probationer of the Year award to his list of accolades after being handed the honour by Chief Superintendent Graham Sinclair.
He was selected as the winner of both awards after consistently displaying a high level of commitment, dedication, endeavour, and ability in his role as a Probationer Constable.
Alasdair currently stationed at Duns, was previously employed as a gamekeeper prior to joining the Police in November 2007.
Following his initial training at the Scottish Police College, he was deployed to Eyemouth where he worked under the guidance and support of his tutor - PC James McLaughlin.
Commenting on Alasdair's achievements, Chief Superintendent Graham Sinclair said: "PC Bell was chosen from a particularly strong field of potential nominations however he has stood out from day one in respect of his continuous dedication, self-motivation and exceptional work ethic.
"He is a mature officer who displays drive and initiative in abundance and whose endeavours have led to numerous positive acknowledgements from the divisional command.
"Despite his limited service it is evident that he has already forged a strong personal relationship amongst the communities he serves and I am confident he will continue to serve them with the same drive and enthusiasm that he has displayed thus far.
And speaking after the presentation last week, recently married PC Bell said: "I have enjoyed serving my probationary period within the communities of Berwickshire.
"The rural geography of the section along with the diverse range of industry and people have allowed for a challenging yet immensely rewarding two years.
"I would like to extend my genuine thanks to the Berwickshire community, partner agencies and colleagues throughout the Scottish Borders.
"I have been made most welcome and have always found everyone willing to provide assistance and advice."
