GAVINTON Post Office branch will close on August 4 this summer for an unknown period of time, following the resignation of the Subpostmaster.
A statement from Post Office Ltd announcing the closure said that the current premises at Gavinton would no longer be available, and apologised to customers for any inconvenience this will cause.
Ray Jefferson, Field Change Advisor for Post Office Ltd said: "Regrettably, following the resignation of the subpostmaster, and the premises no longer being available, and despite our best efforts to maintain a Post Office counter service at this location, we have no other option but to temporarily close this branch on August 4.
"The provision of a Post Office service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance and we continue to work hard to restore service in the area as soon as possible."
Customers are free to use the service most convenient for them, but an alternative Post Office branch in the area is the Duns branch situated at 6a Market Square.
