EYEMOUTH High School pupils have been doing their bit for charity once again and this time the RNLI are the beneficiaries.
Students chose this cause over all other local charities as they are fully aware of the benefits and advantages the local lifeboat team offer East Berwickshire.
Many pupils in the school have some kind of connection with lifeboats whether it be through their parents volunteering or experiencing crews' lifesaving capabilities firsthand.
In order to raise money for the RNLI, which was founded in 1824, pupils made a donation that allowed them to be entertained by an 'X Factor' and 'Strictly Come Dancing' style competition.
The audience was blown away with Laura Aitken's rendition of 'Hallelujah', which was of course made famous by 'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke, and were equally impressed with Teagan Blaikie's take on the classic 'What a Wonderful World.
Commenting on her winning performance she said: "I chose this song because it makes me feel happy. I wanted others to experience the same feelings of happiness when I sing as I feel when I hear Louis Armstrong sing this song."
"I was so pleased that I won and when I found out the money was going to the lifeboats, it made the whole experience even more worthwhile and enjoyable because I know how valuable the RNLI is to Eyemouth and the surrounding communities."
The winners of 'Strictly Come Dancing' were Rachel Boyes, Carly Black, Doctor Martin and Mrs Feeney who came back from the dead with a mummified performance to 'Thriller'.
Celebrating their victory, Mrs Feeney said: "We had a really good time with this dance and we must thank our two pupils who taught us the dance and helped us take home the trophy. Thank you Carly and Rachel."
The pupils of Eyemouth High never disappoint when it comes to raising money for charities and the £450 raised on this occasion will help the local RNLI save lives and keep people safe.
Accepting the cheque, RNLI treasurer, Ken Taylor, told pupils: "Your support of Eyemouth Lifeboat enables us to maintain a high standard of boats and equipment that our lifeboat crews so richly deserve. Thank you."
