EYEMOUTH darts player Gary Anderson, who is now playing in the big-money PDC, was knocked out of the World Matchplay Championships at Blackpool last Thursday.
In front of a packed house at the Winter Gardens, and live on the Sky TV cameras, Anderson was beaten 13-7 by second seed and former competition winner James Wade.
But the 'Flying Scot' as he is sometimes referred to, certainly had his chances in the second round tie.
On six occasions - three times against the throw - he was first to a double, but could not check out and the clinical Wade took advantage to book his place in the quarter-finals against Ronnie Baxter.
Wade said afterwards it was the first time he had beaten Anderson in competitive play.
The competition was won by Phil 'The Power' Taylor, who landed his tenth world matchplay title with an 18-4 win over Terry Jenkins in the final.
