EQUESTRIAN vaulters from across the Borders had a hugely successful day at the Scottish Vaulting Championships held at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre.
The South of Scotland Select Team, who performed a polished freestyle round to music by Michael Jackson, won the advanced team class in great style. The team of Ann Stark, Angus Runciman, Stacey Macpherson, Katy Nimmo, Lucy Younger, Rebecca Kinghorn and Shannon Purves vaulted on Andy Miller's Bart Simpson lunged by Rebecca Morgan.

The Lauderdale Team continued their unbeaten run in the novice class. They have now retained both the British and Scottish titles from last year. The team of Sophie Aitchison, Laura Runciman, Jeannie Robertson, Emma Counsell, Tara Aitchison and Imogen Johnstone Jones vaulted on Equibuddy's Kiplings Tiger lunged by Rebecca Morgan.

In the male individual class Ross Foreman of Duns continued his winning streak. Again on board Kate Griffen's Master Key his freestyle, performed as the 'Joker' from Batman, was the highlight of the day.

In the female section Ann Stark finished in second place just behind this year's European Champion. She vaulted on Zigourney lunged by mum Helen Rogerson.

The under 14 class is always the biggest and definitely the most competitive. Stacey Macpherson finished her best year ever by adding the Scottish title to her British title she won a month earlier. Stacey performed a foot perfect freestyle on board Andy Miller's Bart Simpson.

In third place, also on board Bart Simpson, was Angus Runciman. Shannon Purves was fourth, Rebecca Kinghorn was fifth and Lucy Younger was sixth, which showed great strength from the Borders out of a class of 20. Izzy Kyle also finished in an encouraging tenth place.

The pre-novice class had 10 entries and the highest placed team from the Borders were the Scottish Borders Vaulters on board Green Ash lunged by Margie Younger. The team of Hannah Knox, Emma Knox, Nicola Bruce, Georgia Knox, Georgia Buchan, Duncan Macfadyn, Emma Stenhouse and Anna Pettie finished in second place and they were also second in the fun walk team class.

In fourth place was the team from Dryden, Charlotte Haddon, Chole Gibson, Chloe Anderson, Rebecca Robertson, Jo Arres, Sam Kyle and Melissa Whittet. They vaulted on Ryan lunged by Claire Crichton.

In fifth place was the Lauderdale White team on Equibuddy's Macrobert.com lunged by Anna Marie Macpherson. The team was CJ Bell, Charlie Lochead, Troy Bell, Henry Johnston Smith, Aidan Brad, Chloe Aitchison and Megan Morris.

Lauderdale Blue team of Shula Thomson, Rebecca Buckley, Molly Mcrindle, Sarah Kirk, Gaby Purves and Molly Ivanov finished in seventh place on board Macrobert.com lunged by Julie Purves.

In ninth place again on Green Ash with Margie Younger was the Green team from Scottish Borders Vaulters. The team was Stacey Hardie, Kate Horne, Poppi Shepherd, Samantha Martin, Karrie Pettie, Amy Hardie, Minta Younger and Katy Mcfadyen .

The canter freestyle only class has also been competitive this year. Sophie Aitchison performed a great routine on board Equibuddy's Kiplings Tiger to win her third competition in a row.

Emma Counsell performed her best routine yet to finish in third place again on Kipling's Tiger lunged by Heather Runciman. In fourth was Jeannie Robertson and fifth was Laura Runciman.

The RDA individual class was won in style by Christpher Lyons on Macrobert.com lunged by Claire Wishart. Close behind in second was Reece Logan. Both are from the Berwickshire Group. In sixth place was Elidah Johnstone for Equibuddy Group. Alice Donkin of Berwickshire was eighth and Finlay Lindores finished in ninth for Equibuddy.

The Dryden team of Laura Scott, Eve Wymms, Morven Anderson, Lauren Hedridge, Mia Stewart, Joseph Warh and Hamish Mollart finished tenth in the fun walk team class.

The whole day was a huge success and to date is the biggest competition in Scotland.
