A TOTAL of some £630 was raised at last Sunday's barbecue celebrating the Border Curling Development Group's RCCC Ice Diamond award for last season's efforts.
This well attended event - over 100 curlers and friends - was held in the beautifully maintained and presented walled garden at Roxburgh Barns, a credit to the care and attention of Beth and Oliver Stark, to whom the sincere thanks of all present are due. Not even a heavy shower dampened the enjoyment of this event, such was the efficiency of the organisers - a job well done.
At club level, Foulden CC are now into the presidency of Gerald Sandwith, whose other talents include bridge and, it is said, Rotarianism. Persuaded into the vice-presidency is Wilma Cumming, a very consistent lead and second, as the occasion demands. Anne Wright continues to deal with matters secretarial and financial. Not a memorable season for the club, with a fairly lowly final position in section one of the Border League. Like so many clubs, the recruitment of young players is an on-going problem; however club leagues and competitions are well supported and played with enjoyment.
