BORDER Ecosse Car Club are running the Charterhall Stages Rally at Charterhall Airfield, near Greenlaw this Saturday (April 1) with the first car starting at 9am.
The event is sponsored by KD Grafix/Ian Logan MVR/P and J. Hunter Builders
Heading the locals are Peter Hunter and Susan Brown (St. Boswells) in the Subaru Impreza, Graham Redpath and Alisdair Young (Duns) in another Subaru and George Anderson (Chir
nside) and Johnny Miller (St. Boswells) in their Mitsubishi Lancer.
Hawick crews Martin Elsdon and Iain Rettie and Barry Hogg and Mark Wight are both entered in Mitsubishi Lancers.
Fiona Gourlay (Dun) is partnering Richard Clark from Cumbria in an Escort Cosworth while Nigel Atkinson and his son Keith from Lauder, are out in their Subaru Impreza. Jim Oddy (Denholm) competes in his Metro 6R4.
Des Campbell (Coldstream) and Bruce Hay (Kelso) are out for the first time in the Citroen ZX Kit Car, Kevin Dunn (KD Grafix) of Birgham and Alison Woodcock of Coldstream have entered their Peugeot 205 GTi as have Dale Robertson and Gary Stevenson (Duns) and Ross Hunter and Fenny Wesselink (St. Boswells). They are all hoping to have more luck this time after their disappointments on the Border Counties Rally.
Arthur (Web) Weatherly is trying his hand with a Mini Minda this year so he is hoping his luck will change after his Stobs testing where he had a bit of an excursion into the scenery.
Michael and Euan Manson are another crew out with a Peugeot 205 as are Rona Gourlay (Duns) and Alan Brown (Selkirk).
Matthew Leitch (Norham) and James Brydon (Duns) are hoping to get over the finish line in one piece in their Vauxhall Astra as are David Brown and Steven Heatlie (Selkirk) in the Sunbeam.
Stephen Dunn (Birgham) and Graeme Forsyth (Kelso) are out for the first time in their ex-Neil Wearden Peugeot 306. Scott Amos (St. Boswells) is coming out with his Class 1 Fiesta.
Robbie Mitchell (Greenlaw) and Neil Clark (Duns) in their Toyota Corolla are hoping to make it to the start after a wee problem with pre-event recceing!
Spectators are most welcome for a great day's motorsport, with excellent viewing, fast food bar and toilets. Entry is £5 per car.
The organisers are keen again to attract marshals for the day where each marshal will receive a thankyou gift, their lunch and £5. They will again be entered into a marshals cash prize draw with varying amounts to be won, all donations made by the competitors.
