LIKE the majority of lower league clubs in Scotland, Berwick found themselves out in the cold over Christmas.
For following on from their postponed game at Forfar a week past Saturday, the Boxing Day visit to Annan was also called off because of the severe wintry conditions.
Fortunately, the decision to re-arrange the game was taken on Christmas Eve, the
reby preventing any unnecessary travelling over the festive period.
Rangers were then due to take on Forfar in their re-arranged game at Station Park on Tuesday (December 29), but once again they were beaten by the weather as overnight temperatures dropped to well below freezing.
Both games will now be re-arranged for sometime in the New Year.
Berwick will now hope to kick off 2010 with a home game against league leaders Livingston at Shielfield on Saturday (January 2), but once again this is weather permitting.
Unfortunately, the club will go into the game without the services of full-back Elliot Smith and midfielder and skipper Stuart Callaghan, who are both yet to serve two-match suspensions.
Had all the previous games gone ahead, the bans would have now been served, and both would have been eligible for the match against Livi.
But, as it is, they will start the New Year watching from the side-lines, with Paul McMullan and Oliver Russell both likely to come into contention.
Rangers are also still waiting on fitness updates on injured strike pair Alan Brazil and Damon Gray, whilst defender Graham Guy has also been carrying a knock.
Manager Jimmy Crease will wait on reports from all three before naming his team.
Berwick are looking for the fans to make it a bumper start to 2010, by hoping to attract 2010 supporters or more for the game.
A message on the club website (www.berwickrangers.net) says:
"We would love a huge home crowd to cheer on the Black and Gold and we would like as many people as possible to make a great crowd of 2010 or more to see in the New Year. So do not get stuck in front of the telly, grab those nephews, nieces, cousins and grand-dads, wrap up warm and come along!"
* The London branch of the Berwick Rangers' Supporters' Club is arranging a trip to Shielfield Park for game against Montrose on Saturday, January 30. So far there are nine members travelling up for the match.
