THE Jim Clark Rally has joined up with Rally Stage Team in their drive to recruit marshals for the 2010 event.

Rally Stage Team hosts a website which supports Marshalling for Motorsport, enabling marshals to find out about events, and enabling events to have access to marshals. It's free to register - over 3,500 have already done so.

Chief Marshal Bob
Wright can never have too many volunteers, so register now!

To do so go to www.rallystageteam.co.uk. This will enable registration and allow selection of the stages for the event. It automatically allows the Chief Marshal to see the registration and the staffing levels per stage.

Bob Wright said: "This year we are due to start on Friday morning with a shakedown at a new location followed in the evening by the ceremonial start just prior to the ever popular race through the streets of Duns.

"This and a couple of other stages, all used twice, make up the evening's competition and take us into the night.

"Four more closed road venues, make up the International Rally on Saturday and the ever popular Reivers Rally will again run from Duns on Sunday, albeit with a few less competitors.

"Among the routes planned over the weekend is some mileage never used before and some not used this century and one stage has a lapped section.

"We have a couple of other new innovations for 2010, primarily, the event will be the first UK rally to fully track all of the competitors and course cars allowing far better monitoring of the action and improving safety.

"Along with the tracking comes a new timing system which feeds its information directly back into the HQ results computer.

"This coupled with a more relaxed timetable makes for an interesting rallying weekend.

"As usual we have free camping at Rally HQ, a free marshals party on Saturday evening at which we hope to 'have something new'.

"There will also be lots of signing on gifts, on stage snacks and meal vouchers for that time off!"

The marshal's training day ahead of this year's rally will be held on Sunday, April 11, at Berwickshire High School in Duns.

All those interested in marshalling on the Jim Clark Rally are welcome, whether totally new to marshalling, or with experience, regardless of level.

Subject to the numbers attending, training will be held for those: with no experience, with experience in stage marshalling, with experience in radio usage, with experience in timekeeping, who are senior, or aspiring, officials such as stage commanders.
The marshal's training day is free to all.
