WITH East Berwickshire Pool League fixtures on hold for a week to allow the quarter-finals of the sevens tournament to take place, not even the legend that is Wattie Peacock could have forecast the results as they filtered through.
The Robins Nest 'A' made short work of defeating the Homeless Arms by 4-0 where only Tony McMahon won a frame for the salvation army's finest.

Tony has been on a leave of absence for the past few weeks but this is not, as many thought, a result o
f his bus stop misdemeanour after the league pairs. It has become clear that he has in fact been on a two week residential course at Greyskull learning the art of snookering from the Emperor himself.

The Robins Nest 'A' will now meet their 'B' team in the semi final where an irate Scott Duncan allegedly made a sharp exit as strong favourites the Tavern were dumped 4-3. The Tavern's form has been more up and down than a fiddlers elbow in recent weeks but this was indeed a major surprise.

The Ship 'B' were given almost no chance in their away tie at the Commercial but bizarrely romped to a 4-1 victory. The crumpling of Peacock's bookie slip could be heard from the Plough to the Barniken as Speirsy potted the winning black.

The toughest match of the evening on paper looked to be the Fleet against the Flemington. The pocket messiah defeated match secretary Lowe in the first game and Bunce Craig was shaking like a broken boiling kettle as he crashed to maverick Kyle Davidson. Tud Wud wi the flat heid steadied the ship for the Flemington but then the Britvic balloon, who was clearly pumped, quickly became deflated as Lazarus Darren Williamson put him to the sword. With the Fleet missing two key players they went on to record an excellent 4-1 victory and set up a semi-final clash with the Ship 'B'.

The fours competition has now reached the quarter final stages and the Tavern (S. Duncan) will play the Fleet 'B' (G. Moffat), the Ship A 'A' (C. Colvine) will play the Ship B 'B' (M. White), The First and Last 'A' ( M. Hague) play the Commercial 'A' (G. Watson) and the reigning champions for the past two years the Ship B 'A' (C. Harland) will play the Robins Nest A 'A' (M. Blair). These ties must be played no later than Friday, February 26.
